Been wanting to lend a hand to communities in need? Here are 10 organizations you can check out!

2020 has been a hard year for most of us, and now that we’re seven months into this quarantine, there’s really no denying about the effect that it has brought to many people. However, one thing that’s unique to us, Filipinos, is the innate drive to help other people in whatever way they can.

If you’re planning to lend a helping hand, but don’t know which organizations or offices to check out, fret not. Here’s a rundown of 10 organizations dedicated to helping frontliners and communities who are in need:

UNICEF Philippines

UNICEF supports the rights of children from conception to 18 years old in the areas of health, nutrition, education, child protection, water, sanitation & hygiene, and emergencies.

Caritas Manila

Caritas Manila aims to provide Caritas LIGTAS COVID-19 kits and Caritas Manna bags to 6,000 poor families in Metro Manila. Aside from donating via the website linked above, you can also drop your donations in Caritas boxes located in selected Old Navy, GAP, and Banana Republic stores.

Kaya Natin Movement

Kaya Natin Movement is a non-profit organization which aims to protect communities by providing not only washable face masks but also food packages for the impoverished communities.


World Vision of the Philippines

This organization focuses on giving a response to areas and issues that need the most funds. Some of the things they provide are child-friendly spaces, clean water, healthcare, education, and more. Aside from this, people may also opt to sponsor a child to help them overcome poverty and make their community a better place to grow up in.

Project Pearls

Project PEARLS is an organization dedicated to providing food for hungry children and elderly in their communities in Tondo, Bulacan, and Cvite. They also provide relief goods for families for the blue collar workers and families with no source of income.

Kythe Foundation

Kythe Foundation is a non-profit organization aimed towards improving the lives of children hospitalized for cancer and other chronic illnesses. They also provide psychosocial support to over 17,000 kids with chronic illnesses every year.

Virlanie Foundation

Some of Virlanie Foundation’s work includes community-based programs for children, empowering them to come out of the streets, placing them in family-oriented environment, and more.

Habitat for Humanity

An organization which began in 1976, Habitat for Humanity aims to provide, build, or improve a place which they can call home. They have been active in over 70 countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Philippines, and more.

iVolunteer Philippines

iVolunteeers is an organization which aims to promote volunteerism by giving people an easy way to find volunteering opportunities that fits their skills, interest, and advocacy. As of now, they have different programs where people can donate. This includes fundraising programs to help provide children with masks, school supplies, and more.

Make-a-Wish Philippines

Make-a-Wish is the first and only non-profit wish-granting organization in the country. They make it their mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Kusina ng Kalinga

Kusina ng Kalinga is a feeding program launched by Gawad Kalinga to help support marginalized children’s education journey to help them grow and focus on learning. Since its establishment in 2014, they have already developed 160 kithens nationwide, preparing 100,000 meals every day.
