Move over lomography, hipsters got a new obsession.
Meet OTTO, a customizable point-and-shoot camera that lets you take animated GIFs. Yes, you read that right, GIFs – those often hilarious moving images that have been plaguing the Internet.
OTTO works using a rotating crank that pops up from its top. Crank to start making a GIF; once done, rewind the crank et voila! Your GIF is done. OTTO automatically shares your brand new GIF with your phone, so you can share it with your friends instantly.
Aside from taking GIFs, OTTO also has an arsenal of modes that lets you transform your camera into a mean image making machine. Using its companion app, choose from its different modes including GIF capture, time-lapse, impromptu photo booth, and more. OTTO's in-app MODE gallery lets you access other user-created modes for a more diverse photo taking experience.
And since it's powered by Raspberry Pi, OTTO is completely customizable – perfect for tech DIY junkies. OTTO's USB plug makes it easy to attach different hardware functions. Want a high-five triggered camera? Just attach an Arduino-powered FlashyFlash.
OTTO will be available starting December 2014. To get first dibs at a discounted price, back it up on Kickstarter for $199.
