WATCH: Screenlife Film ‘Profile’ from ‘Unfriended’ Producer Drops Trailer

Using a fake profile, a journalist investigates the recruitment of extremists online.

Timur Bekmambetov, producer of the most well-known screenlife films such as Unfriended, Unfriended: Dark Web, and Searching is directing a new film under the subgenre titled Profile.

The new thriller follows a journalist who connects with an extremist online to learn their recruitment methods. Check out the trailer below:

Screenlife is a film format where the story takes place on a computer screen or smartphone screen. It’s a new film subgenre that producer Bekmambetov has been known for in recent years. In June 2020, it was reported that Universal Pictures made a deal with the producer to create five more films in the format. For this new screenlife film, the producer will be sitting on the director’s chair.

Profile follows Amy, an undercover British journalist who is investigating the news about extremists recruiting young women through social media. After getting in touch with the recruiter using a fake account, Amy tries to bait him into sharing crucial information while he lures her into becoming a militant extremist herself.

The film stars Valene Kane and Shazad Latif. It is set for release on May 14. For more updates and information, check out its official website. You can also follow its social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
