When the animated version of Mulan came out in 1998, the whole world listened to our very own Lea Salonga as she provided the singing voice for the iconic Disney princess, most famous for the song "Reflection". More than twenty years later, another Filipina is taking the mic to give the classic song a fresh new take.
Last March 3, Disney Philippines has announced that Moira Dela Torre will be releasing a localized version of "Reflection" as part of the promotions for Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Mulan and as a way to connect to today's generation of Disney fans.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter, tagged to be the most streamed Filipina artist, was only 5 years old when Mulan first came out in cinemas. During the press junket, she revealed that the song "Reflection" has a special place in her heart, as it was the first-ever song she performed in public, so it's only natural that she feels very emotional when she learned that she'll be the one localizing it for the Filipino fans.
We got the chance to have a quick chat with Moira Dela Torre where she talks about Mulan's upcoming reboot, her experience in covering the song, and her upcoming projects. Check it out below:
