The Friendly Neighborhood Hero Returns in the First Trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

See the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home swinging to theaters this July 5, 2019.

To all the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans out there, oh we feel so good to announce that Marvel has just dropped the first trailer of Spider-Man Far From Home!

Actor Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker who ventures for a summer trip to Europe along with his friends only to be "hijacked" by none other than Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, in an effort to stop the disasters caused by the so-called Elementals: Sandman, Molten Man, and Hydro-Man. Moreover, it gives us a look at illusionist Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) whose villainy from the comics may have been stripped off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or not.

More than the web-swinging action, the trailer also gives us a peek to surprising developments around our friendly neighborhood hero that since Avengers 3: Infinity War, might just be what we need to sweep the dust in our lonely hearts.

Watch the trailer below:

From gliding down off a tall building to web-slinging from an exploding one, the trailer then shows an unmasked Spider-man doing high five with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) after their successful charity work, which already concludes that Peter didn't get to slip his way out after May caught her nephew still wearing the Spider-Man suit in the after-credits teaser of the first movie.

More surprising is when Happy Hogan (Jon Favreu) gets into the scene, exchanging greetings with May, then goes to ask if she was wearing a new dress while May delightedly asks back, "How did you know?" leaving Peter 'hanging' with what could be going on between the two.

After a series of their touring in different locations in Europe, we are also given awkward flirting between Peter and his love interest MJ (Zendaya), hinting the brewing romance between the two.

But when Nick Fury shows up to warn Peter of an upcoming threat, we just know that Parker will need to stand up to his responsibility.

The final seconds of the trailer reveal Mysterio fighting against their common enemy, raising suspicion among fans familiar to his sinister character, if he is really on the good side this time.

Fans are also quick to point out that the Spidey’s mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) didn’t appear in the trailer. Although it does not show concrete evidence that the movie indeed took place after the upcoming Avengers 4: Endgame like Sony producer Amy Pascal revealed back in June 2017, Marvel fans can only speculate a dire fate to Iron Man in the 4th installment of the giant MCU crossover.

Showing this July 5, 2019, Spider-Man: Far from Home is directed by Jon Watts, from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
