WATCH: Tom Hanks in ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood’

Inspired by one of the most influential children's show personality in America, Mister Rogers.

Tom Hanks returns in yet another inspirational film, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

Hanks plays the role of Fred McFeely Rogers, an American television figure who starred in the hit revolutionary children's show Mister Rogers' Neighborhood that ran from 1968 to 2001.

Watch the trailer for below:

Based on a true story, the film tells the story of journalist Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) in his encounter with Fred Rogers to write a profile for Esquire's issue on heroes. At first, the journalist seemed cynical on who Rogers really is behind the camera, but as he spends more time with him, he soon learns how to see the world in the way Rogers did.

While Vogel is a fictional character, he is higly inspired from Tom Junod, an Esquire journalist who profiled Rogers in 1998 and shared how the man had changed his outlook in life. Just last year, Junod appeared on the hit documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor which detailed the life of the late entertainer.
