A reboot of the film Candyman is coming to cinemas this June 12. Penned by Jordan Peele, audience can expect to see a fresh take on the chilling urban legend they've heard and grown up to. The upcoming film is based on Clive Barker's The Forbidden and is the reboot for the 1992 film of the same name.

Candyman is set in Chicago's Cabrini Green Neighborhood, terrorized by the story of a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand who can be summoned by repeating his name five times in front of a mirror.
The film follows visual artist Anthony McCoy and his gallery director Brianna Cartwright who moves into a condo in Cabrini which has been gentrified for the millennials. When McCoy meets a Cabrini Green old-timer, he learns about the true story behind Candyman, and he uses this to make paintings that could maintain his status in the Chicago art world. Little did he know that this opens a door to the past that would trigger a wave of violence around him.
Candyman is directed by Nia DaCosta, with a screenplay by Jordan Peel & Win Rosenfeld and DaCosta. It stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Colman Doming, and more.
