Pancake lovers, the pancake gods have heard our prayers!
Japanese-based shop Gram Cafe & Pancakes is finally opening its first branch in the Philippines this Sunday, February 9! Located on the third floor of SM Megamall's Fashion Hall, Filipinos will now be able to try the cafe's 3-stack souffle pancakes that are sought after in Japan!
Gram's started its first branch in Shinsaibashi, Osaka back in 2014. Since it was received well by the public, it eventually opened more branches all across Japan before expanding abroad with stores in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, the United States, and, now, the Philippines.
We got the chance to check out the cafe before it opens this Sunday to have a first look at all their famous offerings. From their famous souffle pancakes to their more savory pancakes, here are some of the dishes you should definitely try when you come to visit:
When in Gram's, it's almost a sin to miss out on their famous Premium Pancake. This dish is freshly prepared upon receiving the order so diners might have to wait for 30 minutes to dig their forks into this fluffy goodness. Gram's make sure that the wait is worth it, though, as they make sure that this three-stack pancake is as jiggly and as delicious as you imagine it to be!
Because this dish takes a while to prepare, the cafe limits the number of pancakes to just 30 servings per time slot – 11AM, 3PM, and 6PM. Keep the time in mind or be at the shop earlier if you want first dibs on their specialty.
If you want a more savory dish, however, definitely go for their Chili Bean & Sausage (P445), which is as hefty as it looks. This dish has 3 pancakes topped with chili sauce and melted cheese, served with sausage, breakfast potatoes, and side salad.
A fan of tiramisu? Definitely go for their Tiramisu Pancake which is one of their most recommended dishes from the menu. This three-layered three has Mascarpone Tiramisu cream between pancakes and topped with Dark Rich Cocoa and Chocolate.
Gram also has a selection of drinks which you can pair with your pancakes – from coffee and wellness tea to juices. What they recommend, however, is their drinks from the coffee selection, which will also give the caffeine boost you need after the meal.
