Popeyes is back in Manila!
12 years since its stores closed here in the Philippines, Popeyes is making a comeback and opening in the metro again today, May 16, at its newest branch in Arcovia City in Pasig!
Popeyes first opened with the name Chicken On the Run in the New Orleans suburb Arabi, Louisiana in 1972, where they served traditional Southern Fried Chicken. However, after a seemingly lackluster performance back then, they reopened as the Popeyes we know today, and they began to offer spicy, New Orleans-style chicken. Years later, they started expanding their menu, introducing items like the chicken tenders, buttermilk biscuits, and Cajun fries which have become some of the bestsellers from the fast food restaurant.
We got to have a first look at the first Popeyes branch here in Manila, and we were lucky to try some of the dishes that they're bringing here in the Philippines! Check out some of the items you should definitely not miss when you visit Popeyes:
What's a meal at Popeyes if you're not ordering their famous fried chicken? Here, you can pair their signature offering with rice, spaghetti, or biscuits, as well as with one (or all) of the sides – Cajun Fries, Mashed Potato, Cajun Rice, Creamy Crab Soup, and White Rice – they have available. Their fried chicken is available in classic and spicy if you're craving for something with an extra kick in every bite. Their 1-piece Chicken with Rice and Drink is priced at P92.
Those who are dining with a group can try one of Popeyes' Buckets and Bundles, which come in 6-piece and 8-piece buckets, good for a group of 3 and 4, respectively. Their bundles come with rice, drinks, and either spaghetti or biscuits, depending on your preferences.

Another classic from Popeyes is their Chicken Tenders, which, like their fried chicken, can also be paired with spaghetti, rice, fries, or biscuits. These come in 2-piece or 3-piece options, and a choice between 4 different sauces: Ranch, Mardi Gras, Bold BBQ, and Gravy.
If you're only craving for some good spaghetti, though, you can order Popeye's Spaghetti (P66, with drinks). It's a dish that's exclusively available here in the Philippines, and it's made to fit the Filipino palate with its sweet and buttery sauce.
Popeyes also serves burgers for those who are looking for sandwiches that are still hefty and filling. Their Chicken French Quarter is a must-try with its chicken fillet, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and mayo filling. Also available are the Chicken Burger (P92), Shrimp Burger (P149), and Fish Burger (P149), all of which come with drinks for a complete meal.
Whether you're eating it with their fried chicken or as a dessert, make sure you won't be missing out on Popeyes' Biscuits. These warm and buttery treats come in three different flavors – Honey, Hazelnut, and White Chocolate – and you can buy them per piece or by a box of three if you just can't choose what to try first.
Popeyes will also be opening branches in Alabang Town Center, Robinsons Galleria, Eastwood City, SM City San Lazaro, SM City Manila, and Dela Rosa Carpark in Makati.
