French Week 2019 Calendar: Welcome Bastille Day with French Food Events at Sofitel

Live the French way with Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila at the hotel's culinary celebration of French Week at Spiral and Le Bar from July 8 to 14, 2019.

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, a French founded hotel chain brand, is going to serve up a delicious way to live the French way this July in anticipation of Bastille Day, a French national holiday every July 14. French Week happens at the hotel from July 8 to 14, 2019, its two food outlets Spiral and Le Bar putting on the spotlight the gastronomic culture of France. The week-long food festival is an homage to l’art culinaire Français (French culinary art) created and curated by Sofitel’s French Chef Julien Cossé.

This won't be your typical french food fare too, as French Week will be highlighting the different regional culinary offerings, Spiral's buffet offerings allowing your tastebuds to travel from region to region, culminating on its weekend offering of a medley of five different French regions starring in one buffet spread. The celebration's pièce de résistance is an exclusive champagne dinner with an art auction for the most discerning connoisseurs.

JULY 10, 2019 : NICOLAS FEUILLATTE CHAMPAGNE DINNER AT LE BAR

An exclusive champagne dinner as navigated by Nicolas Feuillatte, one of France’s major champagne producers, paired with a vibrant 5-course dinner prepared by Chef Julien Cossé. Experience bespoke champagne tasting with a silent auction of fine art from the personal collections of Manila’s art connoisseurs set in the most sophisticated destination.

JULY 13, 2019: AFTERNOON HIGH TEA AT LE BAR

Lounge in chic gastronomic splendor featuring delicate scones, sandwiches, and pastries from a French-inspired high tea set menu at Le Bar available from 3pm to 5pm. Get your portrait sketched by an artist as a memento, too!

Afternoon High Tea is priced P1,100 with a glass of sparkling wine, and P900 without wine.

JULY 14, 2019: PRIVATE WINE AND CHEESE CLASS AT SPIRAL

On Bastille Day, enjoy a tandem of wine and cheese as Spiral’s L’Epicerie serves as center stage for a variety of artisanal cheese paired with a fine selection of French wine, featuring Sofitel’s French wine connoisseur Eric Norbert for an afternoon of premier wine pairing.

Private wine and cheese class at Spiral will start at 4:30pm and is available at P1,500.

JULY 8 to 14, 2019: LA ROUTE DES VINS (THE WINE ROUTE) AT SPIRAL |

Feast on gastronomic specialties prepared by Chef Julien Cossé as he showcases culinary staples from the diverse wine regions of France. Each day for a week at Spiral’s French Stove, Chef Julien presents a selection of culinary highlights from a featured French region including potée sarthoise, pork filet mignon with brie sauce, and gâteau nantais (pound cake with a kick of rum and lemon) from Loire Valley region on Monday; matelote d’anguilles au Bordeaux (fresh eel stew in wine sauce), duck confit, and cannelés de Bordeaux (French pastry flavored with rum and vanilla) from the Bordeaux region on Tuesday; salade niçoise, shrimp flambé with Pernod, and roasted peach with thyme and lemon for dessert from the Provence region on Wednesday; escargot bourguignon, beef bourguignon, and pets-de-nonne (fried choux puff) for dessert from the Rhone and Bourgogne region on Thursday; and choucroute garnie (sauerkraut), baeckeoffe (baker’s oven), and flammenkeuche (tarte flambée) from Alsace on Friday.  A fine selection of wine pairings further elevates the dining experience as Spiral’s resident sommelier curates the daily line-up.

The culinary series culminates on Saturday and on Sunday, Bastille Day, with a medley of all featured culinary regions and the crème de la crème of French cuisine.

La Route des Vins is available starting at P2,750 nett for lunch and P3,200 for dinner.

JULY 8 to 14, 2019: FRENCH COCKTAILS AT LE BAR

Unwind over signature concoctions inspired by the romantic City of Lights at Le Bar. Choose from a featured cocktail menu including Blenheim, with its blend of champagne spiced with peppercorn syrup; All Grapes, with its stimulating mixture of Ciroc vodka which is derived from frosted grapes and balanced with the refreshing flavor of fresh white grapes; French Kiss with its sweet sensations of vodka and raspberry liqueur; and Bastille, a tangy concoction with gin, Cointreau and pineapple juice.

Le Bar’s French cocktails are available at P500.
