Free Milk Tea as World-Famous Din Tai Fung Opens in Greenbelt

Be quick! You can only grab their special offers until August 1!

The long wait is over: Din Tai Fung’s much-anticipated shop in Greenbelt 3, its fourth location in the Philippines, opens on July 31, 2019, 11AM. The new shop is an exciting addition to the local food scene as it brings a world-class dining experience closer to more Filipinos.

To celebrate this special occasion, the shop is giving away complimentary glasses of milk tea to the first 50 tables on opening day. Each diner will get a choice between the newest flavors, Brown Sugar Pearl Milk and Oolong Rock Salt and Cheese . The giveaways don’t stop there! The next day, August 1, one guest from the first 50 tables will each get to pick a special prize. Baskets of pork xiaolongbao, chocolate lava xiaolongbao, and milk teas are up for grabs!

A multi-awarded brand

Founded originally as a cooking oil shop in 1958 in Taiwan, Din Tai Fung re-opened in the ‘70s as a restaurant specializing in xiaolongbao. These warm and delicate soup dumplings soon developed a strong following, prompting the Taiwanese shop’s transition into a full-service establishment and, later on, a global dining phenomenon.

Today, Din Tai Fung is the most widely recognized xiaolongbao expert in the
world, with 160 shops across 14 countries (most recently in London, U.K.) and
numerous accolades under its belt. Its maiden shop along Xinyi Road in Taipei was
named one of the top 10 restaurants in the world by The New York Times , and the
number one restaurant in Asia by The Daily Meal . Its signature dish, meanwhile, has been called “The World’s Greatest Dumplings” by Forbes Magazine, and described as “small miracles” by Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold. Locally, it has been named the number one xiaolongbao in Metro Manila by digital lifestyle magazine Spot.ph.

Consistency and precision

The secret to Din Tai Fung’s success lies in its unrelenting attention to detail. For over half a century now (the brand celebrated its 61st anniversary in April 2019), DTF has abided by meticulous procedures to ensure the consistent quality of its food and service worldwide.

This dedication to precision is evident in all facets of the Din Tai Fung experience, from the way that the guests are greeted to the way that the food is prepared and served—most notably, the xiaolongbao, which are rolled, cut, and weighed to a specific number of grams, before they are filled, wrapped, and pleated with 18 to 21 folds. This method ensures that every xiaolongbao served is of the highest caliber, with the perfect balance of dough, filling, and broth.

Din Tai fung in the Philippines and its newest store

At the new Din Tai Fung in Greenbelt 3, guests can expect the same standard of food and service that diners all over the world have enjoyed for the last six decades. The team behind Din Tai Fung Philippines, led by The Moment Group (who acquired the franchise in 2014), trained for six months under DTF president Warren Yang in the chain’s headquarters to ensure that diners in the country get nothing less.

Following in the footsteps of earlier DTF outposts in the Philippines (Megamall, Rockwell, and BGC), the new shop is ready to share the world-famous dining
experience to more Filipinos. The 200-seater space is an exciting new gastronomic destination for families who frequent the famous shopping mall, and professionals in the surrounding business district alike.

Spacious and elegant, the store is designed to elevate the dining experience
even further with a rich color palette and unique art pieces from visual artists, and
frequent DTF collaborators, Mars Bugaoan and Reese Lansangan. Bugaoan has once again created an arresting, sustainable centerpiece made of his signature medium: recycled pieces of plastic (e.g. shopping bags, product and food packaging collected at home and in his studio), heated and molded into abstract shapes. Lansangan, meanwhile, enhances the space with mixed media collages of important moments in and elements of Din Tai Fung’s history. Together, the artworks give the store a classic character with a contemporary flair.

New items on the menu

Apart from the world-famous xiaolongbao, which come in a variety of flavors (pork, crab roe and pork, chicken, and chili crab and shrimp, to name a few), Din Tai Fung in Greenbelt 3 serves all of the brand’s signature dishes and guest favorites. Among them: Salted Egg Yolk Prawns, Sweet and Sour Pork, Dry Noodles with Spicy Shrimp and Pork Wontons, and the Golden Lava Salted Egg Yolk Bun.

The shop also offers the full line of Din Tai Fung milk teas, including crowd favorites Black Milk Tea and Wintermelon Rock Salt and Cheese, and the recently-launched Brown Sugar Pearl Milk and Oolong Rock Salt and Cheese. Besides these dessert beverages, the new location will also carry the Taro Xiaolongbao , the restaurant’s newest dessert dumpling.

All these and more can be ordered to-go at the shop’s sleek takeout counter, or
for delivery as Din Tai Fung Greenbelt partners with foodpanda to make its world-class cuisine available to diners anytime and anywhere.
