Upon entering, you'll notice that Watami Grill and Sushi Bar is smaller and more casual compared to the other two Watami branches located at Mall of Asia and Shangri-La mall. But don't fret! They're still staying true to the brand's standard of great food and service it has long offered to their customers.
The concept behind this branch adopts the same style of izakayas in Japan which are small drinking establishments usually located in subway stations and in every alley for the hungry locals looking to unwind with co-workers before calling it a day. It's basically a Japanese-style gastropub where guests eat, drink and be merry over warm chows and cold drinks.
We started with something that's fresh — sushis and salad. Nigiri Sushis are served in twos; you can choose among Ebi (P185), Salmon (P185), Tuna (P145), Ika (P125), Uni (P145), Tako (P185), Tamago (P80) and Shime Saba (P185). Of course, a visit to Watami wouldn't be complete with their famous Watami Salad (P145) which is a refreshing bowl of mixed greens, tomatoes, grilled teriyaki chicken, fresh shrimp and crispy wonton chips topped with a special paste tuna dressing.
You can also find a variety of seafood on their menu like the Roasted Squid (P495), Saba (P245/a la carte; P275/with rice), Grilled Salmon Head (P195), Grilled Swordfish (P145/a la carte; P195/with rice), Grilled Sanma (P145/a la carte; 195/with rice) and so much more.
The highlight in this branch is the assortment of skewers. Unlike the other branches which serve skewers in twos, this certain branch sells theirs per stick which is just right when you want your yakitori fix without being overwhelmed. Their chicken skewers include Wing (P55), Heart (P45), Liver (P55), Thigh (P55), Balls (P75), Skin (P40) and Bacon Quail Egg (P75).
Other skewers include Bacon Asparagus (P75), Cherry Tomato Bacon (P75), Salmon Kani (P145), Baby Octopus (P75), Pork Belly (P65), Pork and Enoki (P75) and Roasted Beef & Spring Onion Roll (P95). They also offer a platter of Assorted Chicken Skewers (P295) and Creative Assorted Skewers (P225) that's best for sharing.
If you come with a hungry stomach, Watami offers a number of rice bowl dishes brimming with authentic Japanese flavors — Salmon Flakes Rice (P195), Chasu Rice (P195), Tuna Flakes Rice (P195), Beef Rice Bowl with Hot Spring Egg in Tokyo Style (P255), Sliced Beef and Onions with Yakiniku Sauce (P245), Chicken and Egg Rice Bowl (P225) and a personal favorite, the Beef Pepper Rice (P195).
