A brainchild of longtime friends, Brook's (derived from Brooklyn) Burgers and Comfort Food's goal is to serve huge portions without breaking the bank. The food park, One Fifty Food Place, opened in November but Brook's started grilling and frying only in February. What sets this new comfort food spot apart from other restaurants is it has American-sized servings that are undoubtedly good for sharing and is packed with flavor, the guys at Brook's promise you'll get your money's worth in every dish.
Start with something fresh and crisp that would awaken your taste buds – Beer Battered Fish and Chips (P155), one slab of cream dory covered in batter and deep fried served with a rich garlic dip on the side. You can also opt for the Beer Battered Chicken Strips (P160) which has five large pieces of deep fried chicken strips served with a honey mustard dip. What's interesting with these beer battered munchies is, the batter becomes crunchier even after it's been left out in the open for quite some time.
Eyes on your fries! There are only two kinds of fries – plain french fries and Signature Brook's Fries (P85) – and it's all you really need. Both are thick cut, skin-on fries but the latter is smothered with cheese and garlic sauce then topped with some chopped cilantro for some added flavor.
As of now, there are not much on the menu but the dishes are tasty enough for return customers with their favorites like the Grilled Cheese Sandwich Burger (P195) which is quite different from other burgers as 1/3 lbs of pure beef patty oozing with cheese sauce is sandwiched between two grilled mozzarella and cheddar cheese sandwiches. Of course, it's served with a special marinara sauce where you'll dip in not your fries but the sandwich itself. If you want something simple, here's a classic favorite: the no-frills Old Fashioned Cheeseburger (P165), 1/3 lbs pure beef patty with cheese sauce, lettuce and tomato in between a toasted sesame bun.
End your visit with the most flavorful dish among the bunch that is the Beef Chimichanga (P180). It is a different kind of chimichanga since the usual one has all the meat inside before it's pan-fried. At Brook's, it's just the Mexican rice rolled inside the deep-fried wheat flour tortilla then they top it off with the beef mixture and drizzle with their lip-smacking signature garlic sauce.
Soon, they'll be releasing a few dishes to add to their growing menu – Roast Beef Sandwich, Lobster or Shrimp Roll Sandwich, Chicken and Waffle and more. They'll also be slowly adding a dessert menu starting with a Deep Fried Cheesecake that's a perfect ender to a sinful meal. Moreover, Brook's is planning on opening new branches in Tomas Morato and Visayas Avenue within the year so you'll certainly be seeing more of them soon.
