Man vs Food: A Guide to The Vibe, the newest gastrohub in Mindanao Avenue

Here's a guide to the can't-miss eats and drinks when you visit The Vibe along Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City. 

It is no secret that Aristotle Blas, owner of The Vibe, is quite a foodie himself since he belongs to a family who loves food as well. The idea behind the subway-inspired food park are trains which transport people to destinations full of history and a variety of cuisines.

At The Vibe, you get to taste and experience food specialties in every wagon, which have been personally approved by the owner so every dish would fit the gastro hub's standards and complete the whole experience. Its goal is to bring family and friends together to enjoy local and international dishes all under one roof.

The Vibe which is the latest food district up north offers a wide variety of quick eats and drinks for family and friends to indulge on. Here's a guide to the can't-miss eats and drinks when you visit The Vibe along Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City. 
 

Geejay's Hongkong Style Roasted Meat and Chicken Rice

Having worked as a chef in Singapore for 5 years, Gee Jay de Guzman, the owner has finally decided to come home to Manila and share what he has learned – authentic Cantonese cooking. If you want two classics in one, order the Pork and Chicken Hainanese Rice Set (P155), it is a mix of steamed chicken and crispy roast belly sitting on some warm hainanese rice drizzled with their special sauce. The Chinese Pork BBQ Hainanese Rice Set (P155) which is also another best-seller, is another can't-miss on their menu.

Piggin' Out

From their crispy bagnet to a tender bacon slab, you'll surely find all your pork-vorites (pork favorites) at this stall. Must-tries are their Bagnet ala King (P250) which has a generous serving of crispy bagnet served with 2 of their signature sauces and the Slabby Bacon (P180) which is a tender smoked bacon slab served with rice.
 

Mad Steak

Steak doesn't have to be expensive, especially when you're just craving for a good cut of it. At Mad Steak, they have a Porterhouse served with rice and mashed potato at only P259. Now, that's really affordable and of quality! There's also their Herbed Porkchop (P195), one of their best-sellers and is slathered with some hickory glaze for that lip-smacking coating.
 

Nitro Shack

There aren't a lot of dessert choices at The Vibe so it's easy to spot Nitro Shack and their unique nitrogen-infused ice cream. If you want something fresh, order the Storm Berry (P182) which has scoops of strawberry ice cream, cheesecakes, colorful sprinkles topped with whipped cream and then poured with nitrogen in front of you for a one of a kind experience. 
 

Viet Taste

If you're seeking for some good bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup, this stall has it and some more authentic Viet food. Order a warm serving of Pho Bo (P148/small; P188/large), which is a staple in Vietnam and can pass off as their national dish. Slurp on this warm bowl that's bursting with flavor from the beef, fish sauce and the cilantro.

Who doesn't love wings? Perfect when it's eaten with rice, or even better when eaten on its own. Wing Vibe has four flavors you can choose from: their Signature White Sauce, Garlic Parmesan Wings, Chipotle BBQ Sauce and of course, the Traditional Wings. What's even more interesting is it's affordable – P160 for half a pound and P290 for one pound!
 

Los Vatos Tacos

Sometimes you just need some good Mexican grub to complete your day. At Los Vatos Tacos, they do not kid with the toppings on their Nacho Libre (P155), hand cut tortilla chip overloaded with picadillo, nacho queso, pico de gallo, cilantro and cilantro aioli. What's a Mexican joint without some tacos and burritos? Choose from carne asada (beef), carnitas (pork) or pollo (chicken).
 

Sugar Sweet

What's a gastro hub without some over-the-top milkshakes? Classic Milkshakes are at P150 with flavors like chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Premium Milkshakes, however, are at P195 and has a wide range of flavors like apple caramel, cookies n cream, red velvet, s'mores and so much more.

Here's an even greater reason to visit The Vibe… Japanese food and very affordable without sacrificing its quality. Indulge on their makis which start as low as P110! A must-try are the Spicy Salmon Maki (P175) and the classic California Maki (P145) which we couldn't stop munching on. What's a Japanese stall without ramen, right? They also have a generous serving of Tonkotsu Ramen (P185), that's perfect if you want your ramen simple and tasty. They even have rice toppings which start at P125.
 

Bistro Wäst

A food wagon which specializes in German fare with must-tries like the Beef Doner that's available on top of rice or a kebab, both priced at only P149, that's similar to that of a shawarma. They also have a lineup of Schnitzels (P159 to P179), fried meat smothered in their housemade gravy and served with fried potato wedges.

If you like your pizza thin and crisp, you've come to the right place. The Cheesesteak Pizza (P140/2pax; P260/sharing) is your ultimate cheesesteak sandwich in pizza form. It is overloaded with seasoned ground beef, bell peppers, onion and finished off with ooey gooey cheese.

From the classics like Nasi Lemak, Char Kway Teow and Mee Laksa, this is a perfect gateway if you'd want to taste some Malay cooking. Best for sharing is their Cereal Prawn (P180) which has the perfect touch of sweetness to it and is served with fluffy rice. 
 

Slurp Station

Visiting with the family or barkada? Slurp Station offer drinks that are perfect for sharing! If you want something sweet and light, order the Blue Lemon Drop (P50/single; P120/for sharing).
 

Khanbori Bistro

Craving for some of your Japanese food favorites while on a budget? Order their California Maki (P138), Vegetable Roll (P87) or Spicy Tuna Salad (P135) that's perfect for sharing and would definitely fill you up. 
 

The Big Mess

Who doesn't love a big ol' classic burger especially when it's done right? Make sure you don't skip on their ultimate Big Mess Burger (P295) which surely doesn't kid with its elements; it is overloaded with a perfectly fried egg, strips of crisp bacon, cheese and three thick beef patties held together with their bun. Oh, and it has a generous serving of thick-cut fries! They also have chicken burgers if you're not feeling the beef – try the Crispy Garlic Burger (P135) or the Crispy Spicy Burger (P135), both served with a side of fries.
 

Bay Point 28 Seafood Bistro

You might already have seen their Giant Butterfly Squid (P175) on the internet as it is one of the most photographed food item at the food hub. It is a deep fried whole squid which has a perfectly seasoned batter cut open. Visiting with the barkada? They have a seafood party pack that's perfect for sharing!

Portuguese Peri Peri chicken has invaded the country for years already but ever heard of an African Peri Peri Chicken? It has a more distinct and stronger taste that's perfect if you're seeking for a much bolder taste. Their chicken meals start at P180 for a quarter leg and P559 for a whole chicken; all dishes are served with free sweet plantain banana since it's a staple in Africa. If African peri peri chicken does not excite you, they also offer Onne Ribs (P220/1⁄4 slab; P380/1/2 slab with 2 side dish).
 

Ninth Avenue

If you plan on staying a little late, there's a bar on the second floor which has cocktails served in quirky light bulb shaped bottles, owned by Aristotle Blas. What makes The Vibe unique is the KTV rooms which you can lounge at and sing your hearts out after your filling meal at the gastro hub. There are also live performances every Fridays and Saturdays so you can listen to live acoustics while nibbling on your food choices.
