10 Essential Hot Dogs Places in Metro Manila

Raise your hand if you're obsessed with hotdogs!

When it comes to cheat food, is there really anything that can be more versatile than hotdogs? We loved them as children, we can eat them with bread or rice, and they can also be served literally any time of the day. They’ve also saved our lazy, hungry selves more than once in times when we couldn’t bother cooking anything that requires more than two steps. To put it simply, we’re destined to be obsessed with hotdogs—it’s just part of our DNA.

To swear our undying fealty to them, we came up with this list of the best hotdogs in the metro that you can visit whenever the craving—or the need—for them strikes. Race you to these counters, guys!

1. Jollibee
Address: various locations

Topping the list is a fast food favorite/icon from the happy bee himself. Jolly hotdog is one of those foods that are a hit to everyone not just because of its price point. Sure, it’s affordable, but it’s also REALLY good. You’ll almost be left wondering why it is so tasty. Is it the bread? The hotdog? The cheese? It has such a distinct taste that will grow on you—a sort of kind of flavor that makes it so easy for the palate to remember and crave for. Jollibee has since added more flavors and customization to this menu fave, but really, you won’t find us complaining even if you just give us the classic dog.

2. Pink’s Hot Dogs
Address: Ground Floor, Shangri-La at the Fort, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

When Pink’s Hot Dogs first came to the country in 2016, the buzz that it ignited was unbelievable. The infamous hotdog place in LA—if not the whole of the USA—finally decided to widen its reach for the first time since 1939 after all and its first choice of stop is the Philippines. Pink’s hotdogs have a posher (and expensive) spin to them, but its price doesn’t do badly when you consider its quality. Unlike other dogs that surprise and overwhelm by heaping tons of toppings on their sandwiches, Pink’s hits the perfect medley of bun, hotdog, and toppings that won’t leave you feeling “umay”. We love their original Pink’s World Famous Chili Cheese Dog, but the East L.A. Street Dog is also a good choice if you prefer something fancier.

3. Schmidt’s International Gourmet Dogs
Address: UP Town Center, Katipunan Ave, Diliman, Quezon City (and other branches)

Want to try international hotdogs but don’t have the plane ticket for it? You can get your fill at Schmidt’s International Gourmet Dogs which offers a jampacked menu of sandwiches inspired by international flavors. The place offers good bun to topping ratio so you don’t have to worry about getting too much bread, if you get our drift. Their bestsellers are the Coney Island which is inspired by the classic dog you can find in the world-famous amusement park and the Wagamama, a Japanese hotdog with wasabi mayo and a sprinkling of nori.

4. Frittery
Address: Promenade Greenhills, Food Area Trinoma, Cinema Level

Name a more iconic duo than hotdogs and fries, we dare you. If you love this combo as much as we do, then Frittery is a top spot you should definitely visit. The fries may take the spotlight in this stall but this favorite pitstop of moviegoers also has a pretty mean menu of hotdog sandwiches and sliders, too. We love the Brat Schublig topped with their Slammin’ Secret Sauce, sauerkraut, gourmet ketchup, and cocktail onions. Their hotdogs’ toppings may not look like a lot, but their combinations are enough to complement the whole package. Don’t forget to throw in some fries when you stop by!

5. Mr. Franks
Address: Central Square, 4th Floor, Taguig, Metro Manila

Image: Mr. Franks

From its name alone, you know that Mr. Franks is serious about their hotdogs. Like Schmidt’s, this place also offers hotdog sandwiches inspired by international flavors, only they name their menu after cities instead. One of their bestsellers is the Osaka with mango, kani, nori, togarashi, sesame seeds, and cheddar cheese. The combination might sound a litttle bit strange at first, but it works especially if you are a fan of sweet and savory combos. Besides their hotdogs, Mr. Franks also offers other grub like nachos and corndogs—another one of their best-sellers!

6. Harry’s Cafe
Address: Fourth Floor, Uptown Place Mall, 36th Street Corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City (and other branches)

This Australian-inspired cafe offers the stuff of our dreams when it comes to cheat food.  Its choices of hotdogs might not be as diverse, but what they have is more than enough to make you come back again and again. Make sure you’re hungry when you stop by to get their Hotdog de Wheels which comes packed with chili and guacamole. Use as many tissues as you need because binging on one is sure to get messy! In addition to their hotdogs, Harry’s is also popular for their meat pies—we love their tiger pie and classic beef pie!

7. Nathan’s Famous
Address: Level 1, Ayala Malls Vertis North, Bagong Pag-Asa, Quezon City (and other branches)

Image: Nathan's Famous

Up there at the top of the list of iconic hotdog stalls is Nathan’s Famous, the legendary New York hotdog stop that is now synonymous with Coney Island. Many rejoiced when the brand decided to open here in the Philippines, and it has continued to rake in more fans here thanks to its solid menu. Nathan’s is far from the fancy-looking dogs many restaurants offer, but its simplicity is what makes it all the more impactful. Make sure to try their Chili Cheese Dog, a classic favorite of many New Yorkers with their equally famous crinkle-cut fries.

8. Three Guys and a Grill
Address: 4364 B. Valdez, Makati, Kalakhang Maynila

Image: Three Guys and a Grill

Whoever said that hotdogs can’t be fancy? Three Guys and a Grill does the impossible by adding an almost artisanal and elegant spin to our favorite guilt foods, hotdogs included! Like the others on this list, this stop fuses international flavors with our classic merienda favorite. Their buns are a bit on the bigger side, but you won’t have to worry about being overwhelmed by bread because of their equally generously-sized dogs. Our favorites are the Duncan Dog, a German-style sandwich with pork sausage, pepper, marjoram, and ginger; and their Traditional Swiss Schublig with sliced pickles and grilled onions.

9. Wicked Dogs
Address: Second Floor, Lokal Hostel, Ebro Street, Poblacion, Makati City

Image: Wicked Dogs

Wicked Dogs are not playing around with their name and their selection of hotdogs. If you’re a big fan of overloaded, messy-to-eat dogs, then this is the perfect spot to visit. Their hotdogs can easily feed two people with how enormous they are, and you even have the option to pair their grub with more serious alcoholic drinks—because why not? Go for the Johnny Sins’ Everything On It Dog if you’re famished or their Wasabi Dog if you want something more oriental.

10. Munchtown
Address: Third Floor, Uptown Place Mall, 36th Street Corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

Image: Munchtown

Want something fast and delicious? You’ll never go wrong with Munchtown, an American-inspired restaurant that specializes in all the guilt food the big US of A is famous for. Their hotdogs are one of the most eye-catching in their menu—they are compact, meaty, and are topped with the best combination of toppings! One of our favorites is the Chicago Dog, a classic sandwich with pickle relish, mustard, onions, tomato, banana pepper, and celery salt. Dropping by for breakfast? Get their Good Morning Dog; an interesting sandwich with bacon, sunny side up, and cheese sauce.
