Now Open: Wagga Wagga Jerk Chicken, Now Serving Jamaican cuisine in Ortigas

Tongue-travel the Caribbean by way of food and its flavors in this restaurant in Ortigas--the first in the metro specializing in Jamaican cuisine.

Wagga Wagga Jerk Chicken is now open Meralco Avenue, Ortigas, and in this establishment, they serve comfort food inspired by the flavors of Jamaica. The specialty here is 'jerk chicken,' seasoning the poultry with a mix of spices ("jerk spice") before cooking it.

Starters and snackables filed on their menu as "Them Thangs" include Carribean Sausage & bean Sliders (P320/6pcs, P185/3pcs) served with Jamrock Fries, Jamaican Patty (P65), and Jerk Wings (P135/half pound, P326/1 pound, P625/3 pounds) that come in Original and Fiah (spicy hot). They also have sandwiches like Sanguche Payan (P315), filled with beef, salami, cheese and Wagga dressings ('sanguche' is Spanish for sandwich). There's also Mofongo Con Pollo (P235) which features mashed plantains blended with garlic chicharones, stuffed with chicken fillet strips.

 

 

For heartier plates, they serve Wagga Wagga Meals that come with rice, beans, callaloo (Caribbean vegetable dish) and plantain. Meals include Jerk Chicken (P255/Double Fillet, P195/Single Fillet), Shredded Oxtail Stew (P275), and Fish Accras with Mango Salsa (P225).

The restaurant is open Monday to Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday 11am-10pm, Saturday 6pm to 12mn (closed on Sundays).
