The Junior Philippine Economics Society takes you to a battlefield like never before!
In the light of the circumstances brought upon by the pandemic, one of the biggest events of the national confederation of undergraduate economics organizations in the Philippines will be held virtually. This May, we are bringing you Ecolympics 2021, a virtual esports tournament aiming to engage economics majors from all over the country, to provide an avenue for students to showcase their passion and skills in gaming, and to let the audience realize the importance of e-sports in today’s world by teaching us strategic thinking and planning, teamwork, and coordination. This event is the first-ever Ecolympics organized by the Junior Philippine Economics Society to be held online.
Aside from economics students, interested participants from other courses and programs are also welcome to register for the following games – Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Valorant, and Call of Duty Mobile: Battle Royale (categorized in Solo and Team) to complete the team. Individual and group players who will emerge as winners will receive exciting prizes both in the form of cash and x-deals for all categories. This event is set to take off for a month-long period starting May 2021.
According to one of the project heads, JPES Vice President for Finance Ms. Thea Monique Altares, when asked what drove them to organize the event, “We were motivated to conduct a virtual tournament to provide an opportunity to our fellow ekonomistas to still go in for a fun and competitive activity and to showcase their skills in e-sports games despite the constraints brought by the pandemic.”
For Mr. Marcus Lex Cajusay, JPES Vice President for Administration and Logistics, “For those who have passion in e-games, don’t ever put out the fire that has lit in your heart. And for those who are playing these games as pastime and hobby, don’t forget to enjoy.”
The clash of legendary heroes in the virtual battlefield is fast approaching. Be unstoppable and prepare powerful attacks for the heroic and prodigious battle. What are you waiting for?
