5 Things To Know About This Year’s Big Bad Wolf Book Sale

In case you've missed the news, Big Bad Wolf Book Sale - known to be "The Book Sale That Never Sleeps" - is coming back for its third consecutive year this Valentine's Day!

In case you've missed the news, Big Bad Wolf Book Sale – a.k.a. "The Book Sale That Never Sleeps" – is coming back for its third consecutive year this Valentine's Day!

Known to be the biggest book fair in the world, Big Bad Wolf started out in Malaysia in 2009. Its goal is to offer books at a discounted rate to encourage people of all ages to discover and go back to the joys of reading. Since its fair, the Sale has toured across 33 cities in Malaysia, and 11 countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, the Philipines, Taiwan, South Korea, Pakistan, Myanmar, the UAE, and Cambodia.

Excited to restock your shelves with even more good reads for the year? Here are 5 things you should know before the 10-day event!

1. Big Bad Wolf will be running non-stop for 11 days.

The book sale kicks of this February 14 and will be running non-stop until February 24 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Just like the past few years, entrance will once again be free

If you've been to the event in the past two years, you'd know that the early bird gets the world (and by "worm", we mean all the books you've been eyeing for!), but if you're one who wants to avoid the huge crowd and the long lines, it's best to visit Big Bad Wolf later in the day/night, or in the wee hours of the day!

2. 30,000 titles will be up for grabs, and at a 50% to 90% discount!

No matter what the genre you've been reading on, there's definitely something for you to find in all of the book sale's 30,000 titles. Feel free to delve into their endless selection of young adult, romance, thrillers, self-help, graphic novels, and many more, all of which are sorted out well to make searching easier for everyone.

Some of the titles they've announced so far include China Rich Girlfriend, Into the Water, The Power of I Am, You Are A Badass at Making Money, etc

If the 50%-90% is still not cheap enough for you, Big Bad Wolf will be introducing their Crazy Deals promo for the first time in Manila, where they will be marking down selected books for as low as P60

3. Kids will see a wider selection of Magical Books with AR technology.

Big Bad Wolf Book Sale introduced their Magical Books to the Philippines last year as their way to make reading more fun and interactive for the little children. For this year, they will be putting up more titles for the little ones, including Frozen: A Sleepover Party and Winnie the Pooh: Fun with First Words

Selected Magical Books will be up for a Buy 5 Get 1 Free promo, a good deal for the ones who are planning to collect and/or giveaway these reads for their little ones.

4. Big Bad Wolf is partnering up again with Gawad Kalinga for this year.

Aside from selling books, one of BBW's goals is to make reading something that's accessible and enjoyable for people from all over the world, and from all walks of life. That is why they partnered up with Gawad Kalinga Philippines for the third consecutive year to bring good books to those who can't afford it.

Through Red Readerhood, visitors are encouraged to donate books at their BBW booth, and these will then be distributed to communities, barangays, and public schools in Mindoro, as well as those affected by the recent Taal volcano eruption in Batangas.

5. BBW is also collaborating with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines

The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) will also be present during the 11-day event to bring more awareness to the copyright system here in the Philippines for the authors, publishers, users, and the general public.

If you're a creator who wants to know more about how copyrights work, you may simply visit the IPOPHL booth, where you can also drop and register your copyrightable works.
