Sony Pictures Animation, the studio that brought us the Academy Award winning film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, as well as Hotel Transylvania, and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, will be releasing a new animated film on September titled Connected, and it teases "a more sophisticated take on tech than 'phone bad'."
Two short clips have been revealed on Twitter through the upcoming film's own account and through the Entertainment Weekly Twitter account. Check them out below:

EW also got further details regarding this new film. It tells the story of the ordinary Mitchell family which, judging by the first clip, has problems connecting with each other due to distracting gadgets. When the family goes on a roadtrip, however, a robot uprising begins and they are faced with an impending apocalypse.
This film which was first titled The Mitchells Vs. The Machine, is directed by Gravity Falls creative director Michael Rianda and produced by Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. EW also reports that the some of the technology used for Spider-Verse were also used for the animation of Connected— where the gritty human world was rendered in a "messier, more hand-drawn style" and the robots are "all CG shine and chrome."
Miller also tweeted a tease of what we could expect from the movie:
Wanna see a groundbreaking animation art style? A hilarious, emotional story? A more sophisticated take on tech than “phone bad”? Or just the antics of a walleyed pug?
All that & more are in CONNECTED.
