Mama Sita's Cook-Along

Learn How To Cook Pansit Palabok in Mama Sita’s Upcoming Cook-Along Event

On August 20/21, 2021 (Canada/Manila), participants who signed up for the third session of the cook-along entitled, ā€œFilipinized! Featuring Pansit Palabok at iba pa,ā€ are in for a treat: Nina Daza-Puyat will teach two ways of making Pansit Palabok. First, the simple way using Mama Sitaā€™s Palabok Mix, and second, the chunky Extra Special Pansit Palabok from the new edition of the classic recipe book Letā€™s Cook with Nora by Ms. Nora Daza.

Participants can also try their hand at cooking the popular Visayan street food Chicken Inasal, an annatto-tinged grilled chicken marinated in vinegar, calamansi, spiced with lemongrass, and ginger. For a sweet ending, a modern take on bibingka, called Bibingkrep, will be presented to help make this traditional treat easier to recreate at home.

Filipinized!

Bahay Tsinoy Museumā€™s former director and advocate of our Chinese Filipino heritage, Meah Ang See will join live and share her vast knowledge of Chinese-Filipino food, and how Chinese influences have been Filipinized through history.

Despite the hindrances posed by the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the Philippinesā€™ National Capital Region, the Mama Sita Foundationā€™s Mga Kuwentong Pagkain Canada online cook-along session shall push through, albeit with some limitations. Instructional videos will be presented and served up with live and engaging commentary by hosts Canada-based podcaster of Exploring Filipino Kitchens, Nastasha Alli, educator and performer Paolo Paculan with his talented daughter Malaika Paculan.

Celebrating Filipino Foodways

Mga Kuwentong Pagkain Filipino Food Cook Along celebrates Filipino foodways and gives a spotlight on Philippine grown ingredients. With this initiative, Mama Sita Foundation hopes to create a greater and deeper awareness of Philippine Cuisine and encourage more people to cook Filipino food wherever they may be. While some products may not be available, info on readily accessible substitutes will be provided to the audience.
