The PowerPuff Girls Z, the main heroins of the series, were originally different thirteen-year old girls from three different families, unlike the original Powerpuff Girls who were sisters created by Professor Utonium and attending kindergarten. When the chemical Z exploded into multiple black and white lights, Momoko, Miyako and Kaoru were bombarded with white lights as they protected nearby children from danger. Imbued with new super powers from the magical light, these theree girls keep their identities a secret while transforming into Hyper Blossom, Rolling Bubbles and Powered Buttercup to protect Tokyo City. Along with their enchanced physical powers and abilities such as enhanced strength, speed, and ability for flight, each of the girls were endowed with a weapon resembling the toys that belonged to the children they protected.
