MasterChef Asia is now on the hunt for talented cooks in the region, and here's what they are looking for in a nutshell: anyone 18 years of age and above, passionate about food and cooking, bursting with personality, and hungry for a culinary challenge of a lifetime. If you're already a fan of this worldwide hit television series, then you have familiarized yourself to the many different kinds of individual and group challenges contestants have to endure.

The international cookery series is made in over 40 countries and aired in at least 200 territories. MasterChef Asia 2015 is the first region-wide search, pitting cooks not only against each other within their home base, but also all around Asia. It will be aired across the region through Lifetime Asia. Would-be audition hopefuls from the Philippines should keep in mind that not only should they exemplify the best they can within the country, they need to level up their cooking and food knowlege to pit against candidates from countries like Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The stakes just got a lot higher, foodies!

Again, here are the quick FAQs for those wanting to audition (complete rules and regulations are found at their website):

  • Open to legal residents of any Asian country 18 years old and above
  • Open to all home cooks, but does draw a line at professionals (MasterChef is about passionate individuals who are choosing to change their lives and to pursue food)
  • In detail: applicant should not have any formal/professional catering or culinary school qualifications in the last 10 years
  • The show will be filmed in Singapore. So for those who have 9 to 5 jobs or have other important matters to take care of in the Philippines, this means  you should be willing to be away from work, family and friends for a minimum of 8 weeks anytime from March 2015 to September 2015
  • Since the series will be filmed in Singapore, applicant must have a valid passport
  • Applicant should speak good English
  • Who are the judges? Well, we have received word that they are still negotiating and finalizing everything, but expect big names in the culinary world
  • Online audition comes in the form of a 5 minute video, and filling up an application form online (www.masterchefasia.com). Make the most out of the 5 minutes to impress and make the casting crew hungry (and entertained): introduce yourself, your life story, why you want to represent the Philippines, why you want to win. And of course: show them how you cook your signature dish.
  • Selection process will heavily consider the following in every applicant: skill, enthusiasm, drive, love of food, and a desire to change his/her life
