According to the website, Periscope is the easiest way to broadcast live video for your phone, making it easier to share what's happening around you — with the whole world or just a few friends — as it happens.
Periscope was founded by Kayvon Beykpour and Joe Bernstein who became fascinated by the idea of discovering the world through someone else's eyes. Or in this case, through someone else's phone. Basically, their goal is for everyone to have a first look on what's happening in the world. "It sounds crazy but we wanted to build the closest thing to teleportation," they added.
For broadcasters
It's the typical social media app but how is it really different? Periscope lets you share what you're doing with others but in video-form and it's live. When you want to broadcast, you just have to tap a button and it automatically notifies your followers that you're live. It may be for leisure, for a family-related occasion or even a work-related event — it can totally be about anything and you can broadcast it.
For viewers
Periscope gives you the chance to travel the world without getting on a plane. This is literally like the saying, putting yourself in someone else's shoes. What's nice about the app is that viewers can interact with the broadcaster and vice versa. Oh, and expressing your love to the broadcaster is made easier by just tapping the screen to send hearts. The more hearts your broadcast gets, the higher the chance it will be on the homestream.

The app may be relatively new but it's amazing how in it's first 10 days, it gained a million users. Beat that! What's great about it is it's really easy to use which is why it is not impossible at all that Filipinos will soon enough be using the app as well.
The app encourages users to share where they are and what they're currently doing. As posted on their website, a picture may be worth a thousand words, but live video can take you someplace and show you around. Enjoy Periscope-ing!
