Just when you thought you've had enough desserts in your life…
Singapore's popular dessert chain is making its way to Manila to introduce colorful and refreshing Jiufen-inspired desserts. Great news for all the sweet-tooths out there! With eighteen branches all over Singapore, Nine Fresh has decided to open its first-ever international store in the Philippines. And they're already opening two branches in February; one in SM City Manila and another in SM City Fairview.

Nine Fresh is known for its signature taro balls which are made fresh daily using quality ingredients. They currently have four flavors — sweet potato, purple yam, matcha and ube. Making their signature taro balls is a bit of a process. They steam fresh taro or sweet potato, mix the cooked potato with flour and thoroughly knead it to form the dough, roll and cut into their signature shape, boil it until cook, and let it cool in their sugar syrup mixture before its ready to serve.
They have twenty-one toppings (ranges from P10 to P30) you can choose to add to their three signature bases — bean curd made from freshly-grounded soya beans, grass jelly which we're all familiar of, and refreshing ai-yu jelly made from the seeds of fig gruits that is lightly sweetened with black sugar. Each cup is priced at only P95 to P130, and can actually be shared by two people.
Unsure which one you'll get first? Try the Nine Fresh Signature (P115) which has a mix of white bean curd and grass jelly for its base and red bean, green bean, pinto bean, peanuts and taro balls as toppings. This one's a sure hit for bean lovers with a taste for the traditional.
There's also the Grass Jelly Special (P110) which is a delightful treat with aloe vera pearl jelly, black sugar jelly dice, taro balls, and a milk cup for a splash of creaminess. Seeking for something that's just light and fresh? Order the Fruity Ai-Yu Jelly (P125) which brings together aloe vera pearl jelly, mango pearl jelly, konjac jelly, taro balls, and milk cup.
If you don't fancy any of the eighteen pre-mixed choices, Nine Fresh offers a create-your-own dessert concept which is perfect for adventurous dessert lovers who want to create their own combination of flavors and texture. All you have to do is choose a dessert base — bean curd, grass gelly, ai-yu jelly or a combination of three, and top it off with the toppings of your choice. Just a few of the choices are black pearl, taro balls, milk cups, soft or roasted peanuts, barley, a variety of beans, and so much more.
