Filipinos love turon – a banana tucked with slivers of jackfruit and dusted with brown sugar then rolled inside a spring roll wrapper and fried to crunchy perfection. This humble fare has undergone quite a few modifications and has journeyed from the streets to dining places as a snack or a dessert.
Just when you thought turon couldn’t get any more exciting, SIKLAB, The Bistro Group’s Filipino restaurant, gave it a contemporary and unique twist. It’s called “Turon 2.0” – a stylized version of that ‘street snack’ we all love.
This version is like a banana compote with langka and macapuno fillings, topped with homemade banana and ube ice cream and served in homemade caramelized sugar snap cones. Snacking into this ingenious creation is probably one of the coolest ways to end a meal or cool off this summer.
Siklab, which literally means “to catch fire” or “burst into flames,” is at the third level of Greenbelt 3. The Chicken Barbecue loved for its signature basting sauce, is a signature dish. Other must tries include Crispy Dinuguan, Kare Kare, Tuna Panga, Pinakbet and Pork Barbecue .
All dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients that are truly Filipino and are the perfect prelude to Turon 2.0—Siklab’s sweet little secret treat and summer treat.
