8 Dishes to Try at Café Enye to Satisfy Your Appetite for Spanish Food

From dishes which remind you of your grandmother's cooking whenever you visit her on Sundays to a pasta with lechon, here are eight can't-miss dishes when you visit this quaint Spanish restaurant at Eastwood.

With the custom-designed red door, its high ceilings, mismatched furniture, warm lights and quirky decor, Café Enye definitely exudes a homey vibe that would remind you of houses which are turned into restaurants.

They commissioned a Japanese artist to do an interpretation of Maria Clara who is the mestiza heroine in Noli Me Tangere, written by Jose Rizal.

Upon entering, you'll find a charming restaurant serving Spanish cuisine with their interpretation of colonial cooking inspired by the countries where the Spaniards have colonized — Northern Morocco, Argentina, Peru, Cuba and the Philippines — which would give you a familiar taste on all the dishes served but with a different touch to it.

There's also a function room at the back where you can hold meetings or private get-togethers and a bar to the left where you can have drinks with friends after a hard day at work.

Pollo Croquettas (P175)

Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, who doesn't enjoy a texture like that? Crispy marinated chicken Béchamel Croquettas served with salsa verde, homemade pickles and the crisp garlic bits that just complement everything on the plate.

Gambas Enye Style (P350)

This is not the Gambas you're used to — succulent shrimp cooked in garlic-infused olive oil, a mixture of herbs and topped with roasted garlic clove. Hand over some bread and we'll wipe the plate clean!

Lechon Carbonara (P250)

Did anyone say Lechon??? This is their take on the classic carbonara topped with their homemade Mojo Chicharrones. Pop the egg while it's still hot for an added creaminess on the dish and you'll never look at the classic carbonara the same way again.

Callos Ala Casa (P440)

Do you remember the scene from the movie Ratatouille when the food critic Anton Ego reminded him of his childhood when he took his first bite from the dish? Well, this is it! Classic callos that has been slow-cooked for six hours which has all the goodness you need — stewed tripe that almost melts in your mouth, potatoes, olives, chorizo and the distinct taste of their homemade Mojo Chicharrones which adds flavor to a classic favorite.

Enye Roasted Chicken with Root Vegetables (P490)

They sous vide the chicken to ensure that the meat is properly cooked inside without overcooking the outside. Imagine biting into tender chicken with traces of garlic, different herbs and a hint of orange. Don't forget about the sofrito aioli which boosts the flavor of the chicken; and while you're at it, you might as well dip the roasted root crop veggies in it.

The Burgerizzo (P290)

Whether you're up for a light or a filling snack, they have a number of sandwiches you'd want to bite into… Like this 200g juicy beef and chorizo patty with cheese, latin slaw and sunny side-up egg served with perfectly crispy fries.

Creme Catalan (P185)

A classic vanilla custard infused with orange zest, the top is thinly glazed with caramelized sugar that easily breaks when tapped. Scoop a portion of the smooth custard and wash it down with the shot of artisan espresso that is served with it.

Dulce de Leche Cheesecake with Tsoknut Syrup

This is the kind of cheesecake you won't get tired of eating. It's smooth, tangy and rich that surprisingly goes well with the tsoknut syrup, a Filipino favorite. It's one of those melt-in-your-mouth desserts that leaves you longing for one (or two) more bite(s).
