Sugarhouse, Manila's premier cake shop, has championed a tradition of good taste in cakes, pastries, and other delectable dishes for more than 25 years now.
The first Sugarhouse opened in July 1983 on a 75 square meter lot on Anza Street, near Makati Avenue in Makati City. The small building housed a kitchen, bakery, display and customer area that was full from the time it opened to the time it closed.
The absence of advertising and publicity was no deterrent to the popularity of the little cake shop. Soon enough, word spread and the more discriminating in taste started to queue up for their favorite cakes and pies.
The popularity of Sugarhouse grew and more outlets were soon opened. By 1994, there were four more stores plus a Central Kitchen and Commissary in Mandaluyong.
From the original cakes and pies first sold on Anza Street, the old favorites are now joined by a number of other varieties including a selection of cookies, breads, and other pastries. With the increasing consciousness in healthier alternatives, sugar free versions of some bestsellers were introduced.
