About

Balboa: Pizza Pasta Steaks is a semi-fine dining restaurant whose name was inspired by the legendary movie icon Rocky Balboa, which offers a fusion of Italian-American cuisine. Owned and operated by the dynamic group of restaurateurs led by Ricky Laudico, Marvin Agustin and Raymund Magdaluyo, and their team of internationally-trained chefs. It opened its doors to the first guests of the East Wing, the new wing of Shangri-La Plaza last March 15, 2013.

Balboa is set to make Filipinos experience the rustic dishes of old Italian-New Yorker cuisine but with contemporary flair. The selection is comprehensive with timeless dishes starting with Spinach Artichokes, Buffalo Mozzarella, Minestrone Soup, and Prawn Salad, then indulging cravings in pizzas like Margherita, Pepperoni and Four Cheese Pizzas, feasting on heavy pastas like Spaghettini Vongole, Truffle Mushroom Linguini, and Angus Ravioli, and discovering the desire for Roasted Chicken, Braised Pork Belly, Ossobuco Milanese, Beer-Battered Seafood, U.S. Angus Rib-Eye Steak and U.S. Porterhouse Steak. Spice up the course with your favorite risottos, burgers, and all-day breakfast items such as Blueberry Pancakes and Eggs Benedict. And lastly, endi it with mouthwatering desserts such as cobblers and panna cotta, and refreshing drinks, particularly Balboa's very own creations of fruit shakes, one must not dare miss out.

The concept doesn’t stop with the food, but with the design as well, as it is also a feast in the eyes. The design of the restaurant embodies the elegant unity of classic and modern Western design. The overall Victorian theme is complemented by painted gray walls, mahogany wooden doors and furniture with upholstery of grayscale bird and tree prints, vintage fixtures and wall lights; accented by displays of classic paintings, hard-bound novels, a large-sized vintage clock, bird figurines and various sculptures. It exudes a graceful and welcoming ambience to anyone who wishes to visit and embrace the Italian-American dining experience.
