City of Dreams Manila celebrates the Mid-Autumn festival with uniquely handcrafted chocolate mooncakes offered for the whole month of September at The Garage’s Chocol8.
Putting a creative interpretation to traditional mooncakes, Head Chocolatier Chef Tweet Obsequio applies her extensive knowledge on chocolates and innovatively conceptualized three varieties of one-of-a-kind mooncakes. The handcrafted mooncakes, elegantly stamped with City of Dreams Manila’s logo, are indulgently made from pure chocolate — consisting of exclusively blended Swiss dark chocolate fashioned in a mould resembling the traditional mooncake’s pastry skin, which are then filled with different flavors of ganache that mirror the yolk of a salted egg.
The varieties are: Lemon-Caramel, which is composed of lemon ganache complemented by caramel ganache; Orange-Almond, which melds orange ganache, caramelized roasted almonds, and almond ganache; and Mango-Pistachio, which harmoniously blends mango ganache, caramelized pistachios, and pistachio ganache. Ideal for gift giving as the mooncakes are neatly packaged in a stylish two-color toned box, the chocolate mooncakes are available for Php 780 net per box, where guests can choose two varieties of their liking.
An expression of harmony and best wishes, mooncakes are traditionally eaten together with family and business associates during the Mid-Autumn festival. Taking after the shape of a full moon, its round shape is believed to symbolize abundance, completeness, and togetherness. Mid-Autumn Festival usually falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar and is said to be the time of the year when families gather to sample autumn harvests.
