Sariwon Korean Barbecue Mother’s Day Special 2015

May 10 is Mother's Day! It's time to give Mom a well-deserved treat with an authentic Korean feast fit for a Queen.

Honored by the Philippine Tatler in their Philippine's Best Restaurants Guide in 2013 and 2014, Sariwon ensures that diners get to savor Korea's flavorful and best-tasting Bulgogi and Galbi right here in the Philippines.

Sariwon was established in 1938 in the town of Sariwon of the Hwanghae Province now in North Korea by grandmother Mrs. Bun-Im Koo who developed a unique and delectable recipe for Bulgogi.

The legend goes that she developed a special recipe for the beef barbecue or “Bulgogi” in order to lessen her husband’s physical trouble who had been suffering from diabetes. The recipe was extraordinary since it was prepared in complete disregard of sugar and it was special because of its unique sauce that is a fragrant melange made of 12 kinds of vegetables.

More than seventy years and two generations later, it has grown into a powerful presence in South Korea with 6 branches in Seoul.

Sariwon was awarded "Best Korean Restaurant" by the Seoul Metropolitan government.

Aside from the Bulgogi, Sariwon is also famed for its Galbi or barbecued beef short ribs, with the New York Times proclaiming it as “the most tender and succulent in Seoul.”

Sariwon opened its first international branch in Manila at Bonifacio High Street Central in 2012 and its second branch at Promenade, Greenhills in 2013.
