We were in for a multi-sensorial experience when Johnnie Walker Philippines launched “The Journey with Johnnie Walker” at Valkyrie on July 23rd. Among the 2,000 guests were influential people from the media, entertainment circuit, and business networks.
The entire night was inspired by the flavours of Johnnie Walker Red Label, Black Label, and Gold Label Reserve, and the different characteristics each blend represents.
JOHNNIE WALKER® RED LABEL™: the Pioneer Blend
Red Label is the blend that built the Johnnie Walker empire. It is known as the versatile, vibrant blend with intense, spicy, zingy, and edgy flavours that make it perfect for mixing.
To demonstrate this, the Red Label Room at the party was set up like a lab, where Diageo Reserve World Class 2013 Philippine Bartender of the Year AK Roxas demonstrated the different ways to enjoy Johnnie Walker Red Label—mixing it with everyone’s choice of cola, clear soda, or ginger ale.
A Red Label performance with dancers dressed in LED suits and laser lights also wowed the crowd. Representing the blend’s vibrance through music was Kat DJ.
JOHNNIE WALKER® BLACK LABEL™: the Iconic Blend
Black Label is loved for its signature smoky flavours, with hints of smooth creamy toffee, rich dried fruits, and earthy wood notes from being incased in the finest European oak sherry casks.
Inside the Black Label Room, guests got to meet the Striding Man, Johnnie Walker’s icon, which was portrayed by Philippine football star Anton del Rosario. Diageo Reserve World Class 2014 Bartender of the Year Joma Rivera, meanwhile, delivered the complete Johnnie Walker Black Label experience for guests to get a taste of.
Modern jazz dancers also lent to the full Black Label experience, together with DJ Mars Miranda.
JOHNNIE WALKER® GOLD LABEL RESERVE™: the Celebration Blend
Gold Label Reserve, the center of many celebrations, starts off with an intense sweetness, then builds up to a rich and fresh fruitiness, before mellowing out with a lingering softness.
Inside the Gold Label Reserve Room, guests experienced a proper whisky mentoring session led by Erwan Heussaff and Diageo Reserve World Class 2015 Philippine Bartender of the Year Kenneth Bandivas. It was educational as much as it was flavourful. Apart from enjoying Gold Label served neat, everyone also tried some delicious craft cocktails.
Aerial dancers and music by DJ Callum David topped off the celebration.
The main program, meanwhile, was hosted by Aaron Atayde and Nicole Andersson. They were joined on stage by Diageo Philippines General Manager Jon Good, who said: “We definitely had a lot of great things going for this event, but what we want to showcase and solidify is the concept of The Journey. Through the moving DJ sets and the different Johnnie Walker rooms, we want to communicate and inspire consumers to keep walking and to enjoy life’s many twists and turns.”
He also said that more is to be expected from Johnnie Walker in the coming months. We can’t wait to find out what else they have in store for their fans!
