Heads up, gamers! It's never too late to pursue your dream of being a race-car driver. Take your racing skills from couch to the car with Nissan's racing competition. Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) has formally launched the second season of the Nissan GT Academy Philippines yesterday at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium in Pasay City.

NPI President and Managing Director Ramesh Narasimhan went onstage first as he welcomed members of the media, Nissan's affiliates and partners. "Through this virtual-to-reality racing competition, we look forward to giving more opportunities for Filipino gamers to realise their dream of becoming professional race-car drivers," says Narasimhan.

One of the event's highlight is Lucas Ordonez, an accomplished race-car driver and winner of the first 2008 Nissan Playstation GT Academy in Europe. NPI brought Lucas Ordonez to provide inspiration and motivation to all aspiring racers that will be competing in the new season of Nissan GT Academy. Ordonez encouraged everyone to seize this wonderful opportunity to showcase their talent and make their race-car dreams a reality.

Race-car simulators / pods were also available during the event. NPI also revealed during the event that the new Sony Playstation-4 exclusive Gran Turismo Sport would be playable for the first time during the live recruitment events. The racing video game has been upgraded with the help of Polyphony Digital, and will be released ahead of its official release to the rest of the world.

Also present during the event was Joward Policarpio, the first Filipino Nissan GT Academy Asia champion. He competed at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK during Race Camp Week where he bested among competitors from India, Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand.
