Ang daming nasayang na opportunities. And the line: “your emotions make you weak!” “My emotions make me strong!” I was like wtf? Super cringe-worthy! The writing sucks! Action sequences felt bitin. Definitely the worst Xmen movie.

Personally, i'm just getting tired of these poverty porn films that's starting to congest our local indie scene. The themes of hopelessness, and isolation from higher class, has been overplayed and it seems like we have yet to see more. Is it really easier to exploit such setting given our local film industry's financial capacity that's always constrained or even under-budgeted? On a positive light, Hasmin Killip gave a tremendous performance and soul to her role. The scene where she found out that they caught the wrong baby, was just natural and I wondered how she was able to convey such comp... Read more

Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto
    Director
    Fede Alvarez
    MTRCB
    R-13

The film was able to make more out of a thin plot due to its strong direction and twists, that added more dimension to the antagonist's character, well-played by Stephen Lang. Tense-filled and somber, this expertly crafted heist-gone-wrong is easily one of the year's best in its genre.

I america didnt work for me. F***ing shaky cam! Made me dizzy! The film was too self-aware. The story had no direction. It didnt' know what it wants to be. It failed to deliver it's message effectively. Yes there were a few laughs, but not very necessary. Confrontation scenes were overkill. Ugh! Many times i wished the movie had ended earlier than it did.

Mercury is mine was effing hilarious! The house was rumbling with thunderous laughter and applause. Pokwang and Brett are perfect for their characters. Script was sharp and witty. Cinematography was consistent. It was a crowd pleaser. It was weirdly funny. The only movie i voted for Audience Choice so far.

    Bea Alonzo, Gerald Anderson
    Director
    Dan Villegas

Gerald Anderson is on a roll this year since Always Be My Maybe. And now with How To Be Yours, he is definitely at par with Bea Alonzo's acting chops. I liked this movie. It was so painful to watch as it shows how reality gets the best of two people who love each other. The story didn't feel contrived nor convoluted. I loved the camera work and the film was beautifully shot. To sum it up, this might be another run-of-the-mill, formulaic romcom vehicle for Star Cinema, but this is a prototype. Dan Villegas did a great job!
