    Just A Stranger (2019)

    R-16 Drama, Romance
    Anne Curtis, Marco Gumabao
    Jason Paul Laxamana

Finally had the chance to catch "Just A Stranger" before it gets pulled out from the theaters to give way to the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino entries this week. This movie tackling May-December cheating partners is a beautiful disaster. The color palette and shots in Lisbon is probably Laxamana's best cinematography while the characters could've been fleshed out more to give depth and impact on the subplots, sayang sila Edu and Cherie. Medyo hilaw pa si Gumabao, in fairness umaakting din yung muscles nya sa dami nang eksenang nakahubad. Hahah! Anne had 3 breakdown scenes here, not her best, b... Read more

    IT Chapter Two (2019)

    R-16 Horror, Thriller
James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Skarsgard
    Andy Muschietti

Perfect adult casting, how they defeated Pennywise is just beyond corny. Hope to see his own origin movie. Nice to see Stephen King's cameo, though. Warning, don't watch ng Last Full Show either mapanaginipan mo or makatulugan mo dahil sa run time. Hahah! FortuneCookie.FunHouse.ScaryDoors.

    Ready or Not (2019)

    R-16 Horror, Mystery, Thriller
Samara Weaving, Mark O'Brien, Adam Brody
    Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett

Mukhang nabudol ako ni Rotten Tomatoes ah. Hahah! With 87% Certified Fresh Rating and an intriguing trailer, I got convinced to see this movie but it was below expectations for me. Supposedly it has all the elements from my fave horror movies; "Get Out's" lunatic family plus home invasion kills from "You're Next" and "Purge". Samara Weaving as Grace, who looks exactly like fellow Aussie Margot Robbie, is really not the smart kick-ass protagonist you'd root for as she's just lucky to get away from everyone chasing her. Almost each ridiculous kills here are accidental and just for the shock fact... Read more

    Angel Has Fallen (2019)

    PG Action, Thriller
Gerard Butler, Piper Perabo, Morgan Freeman
    Ric Roman Waugh

This is the 3rd installment from the Fallen series but don't expect too high. Movie suffers miserably from lack of originality, I've seen it familiar before with other "frame-up/save the President" flicks and TV series. First part alone gives away the twists and villains but it's Nick Nolte stealing the show. Eto talaga yung mediocre, can't believe this went to #1 for 2 consec weeks at the North American box office. Pansin ko lang na parang iisa lang characterization ni Gerard Butler sa lahat ng pelikula nya. Hahah! BombDrones.HospitalSecurity.VietVet.

    The Divine Fury (2019)

    R-13 Action, Horror, Thriller
    Park Seo-joon, Ahn Sung-ki, Woo Do-hwan
    Jason Kim

The film is an interesting mix of drama, horror and action. You got the tandem of an old priest Father Ahn and young MMA superstar Yong-hoo versus the Dark Bishop all in their one-dimensional characters. Probably with the promise of a second serving, they get to articulate more. Those exorcism sequences are excruciating to watch due to its realistic visual effects. Anlakas lang maka live-action anime battle nung finale between good and evil. Hello Flame of Recca. Hahah! GrimReaper.AltarPool.Stigmata.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019)

    PG Adventure, Animation, Comedy
Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader
    Thurop Van Orman, John Rice

Happy it wasn't a sophomore slump after the poor reviews it got 3 years ago. Awesome voice actors burst the needed colorful energy for this pun-filled movie paired with a hip soundtrack. Can't remember the last time I had this too many laughs from an animated flick. Aprub pang-bagets! AdorableHatchlings.SpeedDating.WinkingSeal.

    Stuber (2019)

    R-13 Action, Comedy
Kumail Nanjiani, Dave Bautista, Iko Uwais
    Michael Dowse

Was it just me or it's really not funny at all? Nothing amusing, just a predictable buddy-cop physical comedy delivered in awkward and clumsy way. The plot is stupid, pretty bad in a good kind of way. Only got entertained with a few violent action sequences. Go save your money. Parang pang-Netflix release lang 'to. Hahah! 47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019)

    PG Adventure, Drama, Horror
Sophie Nélisse, Corinne Foxx, Brianne Tju
    Johannes Roberts

I've never seen the first one starring Mandy Moore but I guess Uncaged is a standalone creature feature. Slow start, shaky camera, dark scenes until you reach the third act where it gets scary exciting. Shark sequences were intense and realistic dami kong narinig na iyak at tili. Wag nyo na lang isipin paano sila nagkakaintindihan sa ilalim ng tubig without earpieces. Abangan yung wrestling at showdown nila. Hahah! DeadEnd.BurialChamber.BlindWhite.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019)

    PG Adventure, Family
    Isabela Moner
    James Bobin

At 83% Fresh, this is the higest-scoring live-action film adaptation of a cartoon on Rotten Tomatoes so I thought why not give it a watch and I'm glad I did! Can't believe it's 19 years already since it first aired. There were just some weird and cringey parts that adults may find silly but overall it's family entertainment that's better than expected. Medyo waley lang yung CGI nila Boots and Swiper. Think of funny Indiana Jones for tweens with all the juvenile elements from the TV showand that Quicksand sequence was really hilarious! Anyare pala at nalosyang yung dati kong college crush na si... Read more

    Parasite (2019)

    R-13 Comedy, Drama, Thriller
    Song Kang-ho, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik
    Joon-ho Bong

Got really curious to watch this (exclusively released by SM Cinemas) as this has been getting a lot of buzz after winning the Palme d'Or sa French Oscars. Tinalo lang naman ang Once Upon A Time in Hollywood ni Quentin Tarantino. Is it a black comedy, family drama, mystery thriller? You'd be blown away how the story seamlessly shifts from one layer to another. Mind-f*ck talaga! Never seen a movie quite like this. Can't remember the last time I watched a movie twice all the metaphors and allegories made sense. Great storytelling, haunting musical pieces and brilliant cinematography confined i... Read more
