The four-part docuseries will be deconstructing the case of Elisa Lam who vanished while she was staying at the Cecil Hotel back in 2013. Days later, she was found naked, floating in the hotel’s water tank, which is difficult to access for anyone without setting off the alarm.

The only known evidence for the case was a surveillance video of Lam in the elevator. The video later went viral on the internet, with many netizens sharing their speculations as to what really happened.

The docuseries features interviews with hotel employees and guests, as well as with those who have investigated the case.

Aside from Lam’s case, Cecil Hotel is also famous for its dark history. Famous serial killers, Richard Ramirez (“Night Stalker”) and Jack Unterweger both stayed at the hotel in 1985 and 1991, respectively. Many murders, suicides, and accidents also happened here, and people have reported ghost sightings in the hotel.
