Star of Man of Steel and The Witcher, Henry Cavill, is playing yet another iconic character– the world’s greatest literary detective, Sherlock Holmes.
In Netflix’s Enola Holmes, Henry Cavill’s Sherlock is the brother to the titular character played by Millie Bobby Brown. After Enola’s mother suddenly disappears on her 16th birthday, she sets out on her own sleuthing journey to find her, while trying to escape her other brother Mycroft– played by Sam Claflin– who wishes to send her to a school for ‘proper young ladies’.
In this journey, she also encounters her first case as a detective when she gets involved with a young marquess whose life is in danger. All of this happens while Sherlock is in the background– developing into a guiding figure for Enola while also learning some lessons from her.
In an online roundtable interview, we got to chat with Sherlock himself, Henry Cavill, where he shares with us details about this new Netflix film.
On acting alongside Millie Bobby Brown
Henry Cavill was very impressed with Millie Bobby Brown, and she was in fact, part of the reason why the Man of Steel star decided to step into the detective’s shoes and played the supporting role to her character. He was simply all praises for the Stranger Things star.
“Millie is already a powerhouse, but she is only going to get bigger and better. She is extraordinary and she is charismatic. She is someone who is really going to make an impact in this industry.” Henry shares.
“She’s such a good actor, and she’s also an incredible producer. She has a very very bright future ahead of her and I’m excited to see where it goes,” the actor added. And yes, in case you didn’t know, the young actress is also a producer of this film.
Cavill says Sherlock wasn’t really in his radar of characters to play because the role had already been played so well by many actors over the years. “But when I read the script,” Henry Cavill shares. “And I knew that Millie Bobby Brown was attached and there was a host of other very very talented actors attached to it as well, it was a very easy decision for me to make.”
