The Filipino adaptation to the hit K-drama Descendants of the Sun won the award for Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year at the 15th Seoul International Drama Awards!

The primetime series is the first Filipino TV program to be recognized at the said awards ceremony. It joins TNT’s Snowpiercer and Sky Atlantic and HBO’s The New Pope in the list of winners for this year.
The Filipino remake of Descendants of the Sun comes from director Dominic Zapata and follows alpha team leader Captain Lucas Manalo and cardiothoracic surgeon Maxine Dela Cruz who meet and fall in love while working together in the time of a natural disaster.
Dantes and Mercado star alongside Rocco Nacino, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Lucho Ayala, Jon Lucas, Prince Clemente, and more.

It’s original Korean counterpart, Descendants of the Sun , starred Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo and aired in South Korea in 2016.
The 15th Seoul International Drama Awards is happening on September 10 at the MBC Media Center Public Hall.
