From Mikhail Red, the director that gave us films like Birdshot and Eerie, comes Dead Kids a coming-of-age, thriller, and crime store all mixed into one eye-opening film. The film, which features a cast of young actors like Sue Ramirez, Khalil Ramos, and Vance Larena is set to arrive on Netflix later this year, as announced by the streaming site.
Dead Kids centers on a socially-awkward teen who bonds with a group of misfits who is plotting to kidnap and take out their rich and arrogant schoolmate.
In a press release, Director Mikhail Red states that he is glad and honored to be able to bring his film to an international audience. "Netflix is the perfect platform for the film to gain international spotlight, and we wouldn't be here without the hard work and determination of our cast, crew, and of course, Globe Studios. I hope people around the world will appreciate Dead Kids, and I hope this also helps open doors for more Filipino filmmakers," he said.
Raphael Phang, Manager of Content Acquisition for SEA at Netflix also said that bringing the film to Netflix is their way of bringing its internatonal audience closer to the Philippines "Dead Kids brings our memebrs around the world closer to the Philippines by experiencing a story that is written, shot, and produced completely in the Philippines, showcasing local Filipino talent, and based on events that would resonate with viewers both in the Philippines and abroad,” said Phang.
