The highly anticipated Emmy®-winning HBO original series Girls returns for its sophomore season to HBO on Monday, February 11 at 11pm.  Written and directed by Lena Dunham, the series focuses on Hannah Horvath (Dunham) and her complicated web of NYC friends, ex-friends, boyfriends, and ex-boyfriends. This time round, the girls find themselves making strides in love, work and friendship – though the bumps they encounter remind them that they are still not great at life.

Together with Dunham who returns as the anxious, navel-gazing Hannah, the rest of the cast include Allison Williams as Marnie, Hannah’s former roommate, who falls on hard times at the top of season 2; Jemima Kirke as surprise newlywed Jessa; Zosia Mamet as the newly devirginized Shoshanna, who begins the season avoiding Ray (Alex Karpovsky, a series regular this year); Adam Driver as Adam, bed-ridden but still playing mind games with Hannah; and Alex Karpovsky as Ray Ploshansky, Shoshanna’s beau.

In this second season, Hannah forges ahead with her dream of being a bestselling author and begins seeing someone new, but her enthusiasm is tempered by the responsibility she feels for her now-ex Adam, convalescing after his Season 1-finale accident.  Let down by work and still lonely after calling things off with Charlie, Marnie needs her best friend and former roommate more than ever, but lingering awkwardness – and some surprising turns – only drive a wedge further between them.  Meanwhile, still-married Jessa returns from her honeymoon, supplying Hannah with surprising new ideas.  Shoshanna takes charge of her new identity as a sexually active woman – and copes with the emotions that come along with it – as Ray has an out-of-sight, out-of-mind attitude toward their relationship.

Girls received five 2012 Emmy® nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series.

The series is executive produced by Dunham, Judd Apatow (Bridesmaids), Jenni Konner, Bruce Eric Kaplan and Ilene S. Landress and co-executive produced by Murray Miller.

Catch the new season of GIRLS when it premieres on Monday, February 11 at 11pm exclusively on HBO / 10pm on HBO HD. Brand new episodes air weekly at the same time.
