The Kingmaker centers on former first lady Imelda Marcos and the disturbing legacy of the Marcos regime in the Philippines. The documentary also shows Imelda’s efforts to help her son Bongbong win the vice-presidency during the 2016 elections.
Directed by Emmy Award-winning director Lauren Greenfield, the documentary premiered at the 2019 Venice Festival, followed by screenings at the 2019 Telluride, Toronto, and London Film Festivals. The documentary was also screened at the Cultural Center of the Philippines last January.
The Kingmaker streams on iWant this May 15.
