The highly-anticipated return of the Korean series Kingdom for season 2 is happening this week, and to celebrate that, Netflix dropped a featurette with the cast, writer Kim Eun hee and director Kim Seong Hun talk about what to expect from the drama's second part.

The new featurette for the show looks into the story of Crown Prince Lee Chang as he and his group try to return to Hanyang. According to Bae Doona, who plays the role of the physician Soo-bi, the real story begins in season 2 as it will now explore just how great the scope of the plague is.

Ju Ji Hoon, portraying Crown Prince Lee Chang, describes the season to be "full of angst" and "gruesome", especially since it will now begin to address more on the theme of blood, covering everything from the conflict on bloodline, kinship, revenge, conspiracy, and power. The season, according to writer Kim Eun Hee, will also be showing how the people make choices and strive to stay alive despite their social classes.

Fans of the show can expect for the season to pick up where season 1 left us, and at the Battle of Unpo Wetland. According to Director Kim Seung Hun, the season opener will be an epic action season in "an unexpected, tsunami-like onslaught of the dead".

Kingdom stars Ju Ji Hoon, Bae Doona, Ryu Seung Ryong, Kim Sang Ho, Kim Sung Kyu, and more. It's directed by Kim Seung Hun (A Hard Day, The Tunnel), with a screenplay by Kim Eun Hee (Signal, Phantom).

The second season of Kingdom launches globally on Netflix this March 13. Catch up and rewatch the first season here
