Hello, Love Goodbye

The Star Cinema film, directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, portrayed the lives of Joy (Kathryn) and Ethan (Alden) as millennial OFWs trying to make ends meet in Hong Kong while navigating the complications that their blossoming love brought about.

“Hello, Love, Goodbye” resonated with audiences here and abroad when it was shown last year, not only for the outstanding performances of its lead actors, but more importantly, for its realistic depiction of the struggles of Filipinos working and living overseas.

In his review, Armando Chavez supports this by saying, “Because of the backdrop of the plight of OFWs in Hong Kong, this love story rises from the trite and ordinary to something relevant and relatable to Filipinos. The choices the lovers struggle with are not the typical struggles of lovers coming from different economic strata,” he wrote.

Film critic Oggs Cruz also lauded this particular aspect of the film, describing “Hello Love, Goodbye” as “fine entertainment, one that doesn’t dumb down the issues it puts forward for the sake of a standard happy ending.”

The first-ever team-up of KathDen, the movie raked in a worldwide gross revenue of P880 million and broke numerous records, such as being the first Filipino film to ever be screened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as well as being the highest-grossing Filipino film in the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and United Kingdom.

Fight for your dreams and love in “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” airing for the first time this Sunday (March 15) on Cinema One’s Blockbuster Sundays at 7pm. Cinema One is available on SKYcable Channel 56, SKYdirect Channel 19, Destiny Cable Analog 37 and Digital 56.
