The magic is back—and it’s casting a powerful new spell. HBO has officially announced the lead trio for its highly anticipated Harry Potter original television series. After an extensive global search, the wands have been handed to Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger), and Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley)—three young, breakout talents ready to bring the wizarding world to a brand-new audience.

The Magic Behind the Casting

Showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner, alongside director and fellow executive producer Mark Mylod, shared their excitement in a joint statement:

“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”

A Faithful Reimagining of the Beloved Books

The series promises a faithful adaptation of the original Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling, who returns as an executive producer. Each season will chronicle one book, offering deeper dives into the storylines and characters that enchanted generations of readers.
