WATCH: ‘Pluto’ Teaser Trailer Gives Astro Boy the Suspense Thriller Twist

Naoki Urasawa's award-winning manga is coming to Netflix!

Netflix has revealed the first teaser trailer for their upcoming anime series Pluto, which turns classic manga and anime series Astro Boy into a suspense thriller. Watch the sneak peek teaser trailer for Pluto below:

A highly-acclaimed manga, Pluto was created by Naoki Urasawa and his longtime co-creator Takashi Nagasaki based on Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy “The Greatest Robot on Earth” arc from 1964. Urasawa who is known for popular manga series such as Monster, 20th Century Boys, and Master Keaton to name a few, injected his dark drama and suspenseful style into his retelling of the iconic franchise.

The series is set in a futuristic world where humans and high-functioning robots co-exist. It follows Europol detective Gesicht as he tries to solve a series of murders where the bodies of the victims, both humans and robots, are positioned with objects on their heads to imitate horns.

ā€œI applaud the courage of everyone that has taken on the challenge of making an anime based on PLUTO. I am excited about the birth of this new series to win over peopleā€™s hearts. I hope that now more than ever, Osamu Tezuka’s message reaches the world,ā€ shared author Naoki Urasawa in a statement via Netflix.
