Úrsula Corberó who plays Tokyo shares that creator Álex Pina wrote 33 endings for the Money Heist Part 5 finale!

Money Heist Part 5 begins where the last one left off. The gang has been in the Bank of Spain for more than 100 hours now but has managed to rescue Lisbon. However, Sierra has found The Professor and for the first time ever, they don’t have a Plan B. And just when they think nothing else would go wrong, they are faced with the most powerful thing: the army. Now, the greatest heist has become a war.

In this interview, we talked to Jaime Lorente (Denver) and Úrsula Corberó (Tokyo) as they promote the much-awaited season finale of Money Heist. The OG cast talks about the things they love and hate about their characters over the years, what they took from the set as a souvenir, and Úrsula even shares Álex Pina wrote 33 endings to the show! Read the full interview below:

Other than reuniting with the cast whom I’m sure you consider as family, what were you most excited about entering this new season?

Jaime Lorente: I think that knowing that this was the last season made it so special. We just knew that the story was coming to an end so I guess that made everything different.

Money Heist Part 5

Without spoiling anything, how would you describe this season?

Úrsula Corberó: This is the season finale and it’s going to end in a very chaotic manner. It has a lot of climax in it and has a very war-like battle. At the end of every season, I always think that no one can top this but I’m always wrong. They always outdo themselves and improve it for the next season. I don’t really know how they do it but lots of energy have been poured in this last season.

I also found out yesterday that Alex Pina wrote 33 different endings so it’s really crazy. But you can really see how well thought through everything is. I haven’t seen the final result yet but I have already shot it and I’m really happy and think that it rises up to the expectations.

Having played Denver and Tokyo for four years now, what do you love and hate most about your characters?

Jaime Lorente: What I love most about him is he’s a man of principle. He has a big heart and he’s a very loyal person. What I least like about him because I can’t say I hate is his clumsiness and the violence that comes from his guts. If it was approached in a different way, it will be way more useful.

Úrsula Corberó: The thing that I love the most about my character is her boldness. She is very daring and I think that it’s something beautiful to be given the opportunity to play a female character who has been described as an action superheroine. And that’s something that I find really interesting as an actress and as a person because she’s never influenced by the rest. She follows her impulses, gut, and intuition. She is willing to take the risks of making mistakes and willing to take on the consequences of following her intuition.

As for the negative parts, it’s hard because as an actress all her negative traits are something interesting for me to play. But perhaps, I would say that the thing I like the least is when she doesn’t know how to handle certain situations where she needs to pour her heart out. She is very guarded which was really difficult for me to play. It’s hard for her to say I’m sorry so I even felt ashamed as myself when I had to apologize on behalf of Tokyo. I felt very vulnerable, even like a child.

What’s your ultimate favorite line in the show?

Jaime Lorente: A line that just stayed in my heart for some reason is when Moscow dies and Denver’s father tells him that the person who is born in the wrong place dies in the wrong place.

We’re in the last season of Money Heist, how would you like the show to be remembered?

Úrsula Corberó: I know that Money Heist has crossed many barriers and it has even become a symbol for resistance. So when we were shooting at the end of the season, I kept thinking to myself that I would really feel sad if people would forget what the show has entailed and symbolized. I would love for people to remember it fondly and for them to revisit it because it’s filled with content that allows for many different screenings after you’ve seen it the first time.

Did you get to keep anything from the set or did you want to keep anything as a farewell to the show?

Jaime Lorente: In the first season I was able to keep the ring my character wears. This season, the crew sent us a red jumpsuit and a mask so there’s no better souvenir than that. It’s the most meaningful one.

Úrsula Corberó: I took everything with me, even the things that I wasn’t allowed to take with me. I must confess that I am very sentimental about the characters I play so I collect memorabilia from them. And I was thinking to myself, this isn’t going to be used again because I’m the only one playing as Tokyo. Carlos, the person in charge of costumes told me to get everything and I even remember I couldn’t take everything with me so they had to send it in boxes. I took the jumpsuit and the boots that I used for shooting the last scene so they are full of dirt. But then Netflix sent me a nicely packed box with a mask and a red jumpsuit and I felt horrible.

Since this is the last season of La Casa De Papel, if it were up to you, where would the gang be in five years?

Jaime Lorente: I don’t know. I can’t answer that question. I think if everything went well and you will see that. Everyone has their own life. Hopefully, a happy one and they are more relaxed.
