Even before James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad was released, it has been revealed that the director is already expanding the franchise with the spinoff series Peacemaker.
The upcoming show will feature the eponymous anti-hero played by John Cena in the film. Peacemaker is a man so committed to peace that he will stop at nothing to achieve it, even if it means he has to use violence. The series is set to continue the anti-hero’s journey after the events of The Suicide Squad, as well as reveal his origin story.
Through his social media accounts, James Gunn unveiled a poster for the upcoming DC FanDome event featuring Peacemaker in his car with his hand out of its window making a peace sign.

DC FanDome is a global virtual event where exciting DC news and trailers are dropped. Now in its second year, the virtual event is expected to reveal the latest updates and trailers for upcoming DC content such as The Batman, SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods, Black Adam, The Flash, and of course Peacemaker, to name a few. It will go live this October 16.
Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Lochlyn Munro are joining Cena in Peacemaker. It is set to premiere on HBO Max in January 2022. It is yet to be revealed if the series will also be streamed here in the Philippines via HBO Go.
