Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun Join the Cast of the Upcoming JTBC K-Drama ‘Thirty-Nine’

'Thirty-Nine' is the upcoming slice-of-life K-drama we all should look forward to!

ICYMI, JTBC’s newest drama is a slice-of-life drama Thirty-Nine centers on the lives of three women who are all approaching their 40s. While Son Ye Jin has been long confirmed to join the drama, the network has recently announced that Hospital Playlist‘s Jeon Mi Do and Backstreet Rookie’s Kim Ji Hyun will be joining her as the leads of the K-drama.

Thirty-Nine is a slice-of-life drama about the story of friendship, love, and the lives of three friends who are all about to turn 40 in 2022. Son Ye Jin plays Cha Mi Jo, a woman who grew up in a wealthy environment and is now the head of a clinic in Gangnam. Jeon Mi Do plays Jung Chan Young, who dreamt of becoming an actress but ended up becoming an acting teacher instead. Lastly, there’s Kim Ji Hyun, who takes on the role of Jang Joo Hee, a department store cosmetics manager who hasn’t been in a romantic relationship because of her timid personality.

Aside from the three ladies, Yeon Woo Jin, Lee Moo Saeng, and Lee Tae Hwan will be joining the cast of the drama as their love interests. Yeon Woo Jin plays Kim Sun Woo, a 39-year-old dermatologist who finds himself drawn to Cha Mi Jo. Lee Moo Saeng will be playing Kim Ji Seok, the CEO of an entertainment agency who ends up meeting Mi Jo’s friend, Jung Chan Young. And then there’s Lee Tae Hwan as Park Hyun Jun, who runs his own restaurant in Chinatown.

Thirty-Nine comes from director Kim Sang Ho, who worked on the drama Run On, with a screenplay by Yoo Young Ah, who also worked on the screenplay of Encounter, Kim Ji Young: Born 1982, and more. F

Filming for the drama is expected to kick off later in the year, and is expected to premiere on JTBC in the first half of 2022.
