Pokémon is teaming up with Netflix for Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back-Evolution, a Japanese CGI anime film launching on Netflix on February 27, in celebration of Pokémon Day.

In this upcoming film, a group of researchers unleashes a Legendary Pokémon called Mewtwo – a tool of destruction – when they chance upon the fossil of the Mythical Pokémon Mew. When Mewtwo realizes its origin, it begins to resent and seek revenge against its human creators. Ash, Pikachu, and their friends then find themselves in the middle of the chaos, and they must overcome the challenge that is Mewtwo's.
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back-Evolution is the 22nd film in the Pokémon franchise, and is also the CGI remake of the very first Pokemon movie, which was released 21 years ago. The animated film, directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and Motonoro Sakakibara, premiered in Japan on July 12, 2019.
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back-Evolution launches globally (except in Japan and South Korea) on February 27. For now, you can stream Pokémon episodes on Netflix.
