From the Chernobyl disaster in the 1980s to Russia's 'Golden Era,' HBO will soon be releasing another miniseries that will star Oscar-winner Helen Mirren in the titular role, Catherine The Great.
Here's the full trailer:
Set in the 18th century, Mirren will be playing the role of the tumultous ruler of the Russian empire who had transformed the country's place in the world. Opposite Mirren is Jason Clarke who will star as Grigory Potemkin, the Russian military leader who had an affair with the empress. An affair that "helped shape the future of Russian politics," according to the show's synopsis.
Catherine The Great is a four-part miniseries directed by the award-winning Philip Martin (The Crown) and written by Nigel Williams (Elizabeth I). It will premiere on HBO this October 21 at 10PM.
