‘Art 2 Art’ marks Buwan ng Wika with National Artist Virgilio Almario

National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario discusses pertinent issues in language as the featured guest in Art 2 Art in its episode on August 4.

Produced by the Manila Broadcasting Company and hosted by “Ballerina ng Bayan” Lisa Macuja, Art 2 Art airs every Sunday, 3:30 to 4 p.m., on radio via DZRH (666 khz on the AM band), on cable television via RHTV (Ch. 129 on Skycable in Metro Manila, Ch. 18 on Cignal TV and Ch. 3 on Cablelink) and livestreaming at http://dzrhnews television.tv. Almario, who is also the chairman of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, talks about the work of the commission in promoting the national language. He also outlines the various activities KWF has lined up with partner organizations to observe Buwan ng Wika (Language Month) which this year has the theme “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino”.

Celeste Licaroz

On August 11, visual artist Celeste Lecaroz relates how her coloring hobby led to a full-time career. Using watercolor, color pencils, gouache, pastel, acrylic and oil, she specializes in a style known as spontaneous realism.

Art 2 Art 3

On August 18, artist Mark Aldwin Del Rosario shares the challenges of making his first independent graphic novel. Intended as a series, Tales from the Kingdom of Tundo is a mythic fantasy set in a fictional kingdom with Lakan Bunao Dula as the hero.

Joan Emery Sia

On August 25, Ballet Manila principal dancer Joan Emery Sia, and company artists Shaira Comeros and Akari Ida talk about taking on the lead role in the company’s restaging of Snow White which Macuja herself choreographed.
